I had been dreaming of owning an XK120 coupe for a long while,  partly due to the fact that I make the burl wood dashboards which add so much elegance to the interiors. One day a friend telephoned and said he was going to look at a project car for sale and would I like to come along?  I did, and I ended up buying it.

It was a project car in boxes which had been under restoration since at least the early 1980’s through multiple different owners. The last owner was a race car builder, engineer and all around car enthusiast who rebuilt most of the chassis and engine.  Due to his excellent work the engine was ready to install and runs beautifully with a big valve head, lightened flywheel and I’m not sure what else inside of it.  Whatever he did it was just right for this is one of the sweetest running Jag sixes I’ve ever heard and I have heard a few.

I painted my XK120 Zermatt silver because I had made a pact with myself that my next car would be silver. No exceptions. The black and grey interior give the car a very monotone and serious look, the only colors on the  car being the red marker lights and the warm tones of the burl walnut woodwork. More pictures to come as I begin to drive this car and explore whatever terrors or wonderfulness it has to offer.

This iconic Jaguar has come a long way since some unknown previous owner began the restoration over forty years ago. . . starting projects is easy, finishing them is more difficult.
